Pawzilla II, a red Maine Coon cat held outdoors near the water, representing Pawzilla Maine Coons.

How We Met

If you haven’t read about him yet, our first Maine Coon king was our “Shiny King,” Pawzilla I. He’s the one who inspired our cattery name. We lost him to an accident, and our family never truly got over it. Red Maine Coons are where my heart lies in this breed, so when it came time to find a new red male, we searched patiently. One day, a beautiful red polydactyl male kitten appeared on Facebook, and our whole family couldn’t believe how much he resembled our first Pawzilla. That was it—he was meant to be ours. We reached out to the breeder, asked all the right questions, got all the right answers, and soon purchased this sweet boy. Then came the hardest part—waiting for him to be old enough to import.

We actually got to name this cat ourselves. Many breeders overseas choose names before sending kittens so paperwork can be finalized, but we prefer to give our cats both their official registered names and their “call names.” Pawzilla II proudly carries both.

Finally, the day arrived when Pawzilla II was old enough to fly to the United States. A courier brought him from Russia to New York, and from there he flew to Raleigh, where we picked him up. He handled the journey beautifully, showing no signs of stress and settling in right away. To say we fell in love with him would be an understatement.

🧡 Personality

Pawzilla II has the perfect personality. You could not ask for a sweeter, more loving boy. He gives kisses on command—usually to only one person, my husband. Pawz is his cat through and through. Every now and then, he’ll give someone else a kiss, but his favorite human is definitely my husband, followed by our oldest daughter.

He’s affectionate, playful, and a complete sweetheart. Every night, he curls up on my husband’s pillow to sleep beside him. Pawzilla is also an early riser, waking up between 5 and 6 a.m. to meow and rouse the whole house. He knows exactly what’s coming when he does it, but still does it anyway! I get up, half asleep, and have to hunt him down in the dark while he hides and plays “catch me if you can.” Once caught, he goes into the bathroom until everyone is up.
