Our Mission at Pawzilla Maine Coons

Collins family children sitting outdoors holding Maine Coon cats with a Pawzilla logo in the corner, showcasing the family-raised and well-socialized nature of Pawzilla Maine Coons.

Our mission started with one Maine Coon, Pawzilla. The cat who completely stole our hearts. As a family, we had always dreamed of having one, and once we finally did, we knew right away that one would never be enough. What began as a family dream turned into a lifelong love for the breed and a passion to share that same joy with others.

We wanted other families to experience what we did, the big, beautiful personality, the fierce European look, and the loyalty of these amazing cats, but without the worry of buying from overseas and wondering if you’re really getting what you’ve been promised. Pawzilla Maine Coons is a Southern, family-run cattery built on faith, honesty, and responsibility. We do things the right way because that’s the only way that feels right to us.

Every cat in our home is health-tested, cared for by our trusted veterinarian, and raised with constant love and hands-on socialization. They aren’t just breeding cats to us. They’re family, and we treat every kitten as one of our own until the day they go home.

When you bring home a Pawzilla kitten, you’re not just adding a pet to your family. You’re becoming part of ours. This isn’t a one-time sale. It’s the beginning of a lifelong friendship built on trust, care, and a shared love for this incredible breed.

Veterinary Care

Our Veterinary Standards

We proudly work with Dr. Matt at Hannah Creek Veterinary Hospital, and we gladly travel the extra miles because exceptional veterinary care matters.

Unlike many breeders, we do not administer our own vaccinations or deworming. All medical care is handled directly by our veterinarian.

Before any kitten receives deworming medication, a fecal exam is performed to confirm treatment is necessary. We believe kittens should never receive medication unless there is a clear medical need.

We also choose not to purchase or administer vaccinations ourselves. Proper vaccine handling requires strict temperature control, and improper storage can compromise vaccine integrity and effectiveness. In addition, most veterinarians will not accept breeder-administered vaccines and will restart the series.

For these reasons, all vaccinations and deworming are completed by our veterinarian.

To provide transparency and peace of mind, we document each kitten’s exam and vaccinations with photos and videos, so families can see firsthand that their kitten was thoroughly examined and professionally cared for.

Health Testing & Genetics

At Pawzilla Maine Coons, we believe that responsible breeding begins with honesty, science, and hands-on veterinary care. Every cat in our program is DNA tested through Optimal Selection by Wisdom Panel, one of the most trusted and comprehensive genetic testing platforms available. These results allow us to make informed breeding decisions that strengthen our lines and protect the long-term health of the Maine Coon breed.

You can view the full testing results for each of our breeding cats directly on their individual profiles under our Kings & Queens page.

Beyond genetics, we take a proactive approach to overall wellness. All veterinary services, including vaccinations, wellness exams, fecal testing, and parasite prevention, are performed exclusively through our licensed veterinarian. We do not administer vaccines or treatments ourselves, ensuring every procedure is done safely, professionally, and according to veterinary standards.

While many of our cats test completely clear for all genetic conditions, a few have carried or tested positive for certain traits. Rather than remove valuable lines entirely, we work carefully under veterinary and genetic guidance to breed away from those traits over time by pairing only with fully clear partners and continuously monitoring results in each generation.

This combination of scientific testing and professional veterinary oversight reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency, improvement, and the lifelong health of the Maine Coon breed. Every Pawzilla kitten is the result of thoughtful, data-driven care that prioritizes both health and genetic diversity.

🧬 DNA Genetic Screening

Every Pawzilla breeding cat is DNA tested through Optimal Selection by Wisdom Panel.
This comprehensive panel screens for hereditary conditions including Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), and many other health risks. These tests allow us to make informed pairing decisions that reduce the risk of passing on genetic issues and strengthen the overall health of our bloodlines.

❤️ Echocardiograms

We believe in monitoring heart health beyond DNA.
Because HCM can occasionally occur even in non-carriers, we utilize echocardiograms to assess heart function and structure in our breeding cats. These scans, performed under veterinary supervision, give us an extra layer of confidence in the long-term heart health of our lines.

🧫 FIV & FELV Testing

We test each new addition to our program prior to introduction and ensure that every cat in our care is negative for both viruses. This routine testing helps protect not only our own cats but also the health of every Pawzilla kitten and future family.

💉 Vaccination Protocol

Our kittens follow a carefully timed vaccination program for a safe and healthy start.

All veterinary care and vaccinations are performed exclusively by our licensed veterinarian.
We do not administer vaccines or medications ourselves. Every adult cat in our program receives regular wellness exams and any needed care directly through our vet to ensure the highest standards of health and safety.

Each kitten also visits our veterinarian for a complete wellness check and their age-appropriate core vaccinations before going to their new home. This hands-on veterinary involvement ensures every Pawzilla kitten leaves our care healthy, protected, and ready to thrive.

🧑‍⚕️ Parasite Prevention & Routine Care

All routine care and parasite prevention are overseen by our licensed veterinarian.
We never administer deworming or parasite treatments without medical necessity. Routine fecal testing is performed for both adults and kittens, and treatment is only given if a positive result is confirmed. This targeted approach prevents unnecessary medication and supports long-term gut health.

Every cat in our program, from our breeding adults to our kittens, receives all veterinary services directly through our vet. Regular wellness exams, ongoing health monitoring, and individualized care ensure that each Pawzilla cat remains in optimal condition year-round.

🧡 Commitment to Genetic Progress

Health testing is not a one-time event; it’s an ongoing responsibility.
We track and review genetic results every generation, using that data to guide future pairings and breed away from unwanted traits. With each litter, our goal is to move closer toward eliminating hereditary risks while maintaining genetic diversity and the incredible Maine Coon temperament we love.

CAT REGISTRATION

We are a dual-registered cattery, recognized by both
The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA).

Our cattery is registered as Pawzilla MC (CFA) and PawzillaMC (TICA).
Each kitten goes home with official CFA or TICA registration papers, depending on the registry under which the litter is registered.

We Feed Raw

Our adult cats are fed a nutritious, homemade, balanced raw diet designed to support optimal health and longevity. Raw feeding aligns closely with a cat’s natural instincts and provides biologically appropriate nutrition. Every ingredient is intentionally selected to create the healthiest diet possible. We even raise some of the proteins used in our cats’ meals, and any ingredients we source externally are human-grade and purchased from local farmers and markets. Feeding a raw diet is not the most cost-effective choice…but it is, in our experience, the best one. We do not cut corners when it comes to nutrition and have fed a raw diet to our cats and dogs for over two decades.

Kitten Nutrition

While our adult cats thrive on a raw diet, we do not feed raw to our kittens. Because many families do not plan to continue raw feeding, we prioritize a smooth and stress-free transition into their new homes.

Our kittens are thoughtfully fed premium-quality dry kibble and canned foods throughout the day to ensure excellent nutrition without creating food preferences that may be difficult for families to maintain.

Early Training

From the earliest weeks, our kittens are gently introduced to new experiences that support confidence and adaptability. Regular handling and weighing help them become comfortable with human interaction from the start.

Our kittens are gradually exposed to everyday household sounds, children, other pets, and age-appropriate training experiences. Early grooming is an important part of this process, including combing, brushing, bathing, and nail trimming, so these routines feel familiar and stress-free as they grow.

Litter box training is a priority, and kittens must demonstrate consistent litter box use before leaving our care.

Since car travel can be stressful for cats, our kittens are also introduced to short car rides prior to going home, helping reduce anxiety and support a calmer transition into their new families.

Socialization

Early Multi-Pet Socialization

Our Maine Coon kittens are, of course, raised alongside their littermates, but their socialization doesn’t stop there. They are thoughtfully introduced to other household animals as well.

Since our kittens often join homes with existing pets, we believe early, gentle exposure is essential. Our kittens are accustomed to dogs and even small animals, such as rabbits, before they ever leave us.

This early multi-pet socialization helps ease the transition into their new homes and supports confident, adaptable temperaments from the start.

Go Home Guide

Pawzilla Maine Coons Go-Home Guide designed to support new kitten owners with care and transition information

When you take home a kitten from Pawzilla Maine Coons, you don’t leave with just a kitten, you leave with our Pawzilla Go-Home Guide and our continued support.

We know how exciting it is to bring home a new kitten, and we also understand how overwhelming it can feel, especially in those first days. This guide was created from years of hands-on experience to answer common questions, ease worries, and remove the guesswork from kitten care.

Our goal is simple: we want you to feel confident, prepared, and supported as you welcome your new kitten into your home.

Transparency

In-Person Pickup & Meeting the Parents

We welcome our kitten families into our home for in-person pickup whenever possible. We believe bringing home a new Maine Coon kitten should be a meaningful and reassuring experience, not a rushed handoff.

Families who pick up in person have the opportunity to meet their kitten and meet the parents. This not only allows you to see what your kitten may grow into, but also provides transparency and peace of mind throughout the adoption process.

Unfortunately, purchasing a kitten online can feel intimidating, and for good reason. By welcoming families into our home, we offer a level of openness and authenticity that helps protect buyers and builds trust, something that truly sets us apart.

Our goal is to create a personal, unhurried experience, where questions are answered, connections are made, and families leave feeling confident and excited about their new addition.
